General Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs a wide range of ultrasound procedures to support the evaluation and diagnosis of medical conditions. This role requires the use of independent judgment to determine appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and adherence to safety standards while producing high-quality diagnostic images.

Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to evaluate tissues and body structures, ensuring high-quality images for physician interpretation
Prepare, operate, and adjust ultrasound equipment; skillfully maneuver transducers to obtain optimal images
Utilize independent judgment in selecting imaging techniques and positioning patients appropriately
Conduct both routine and complex imaging studies and assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures
Identify and recognize anatomical structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations
Ensure all images and documentation are accurately completed and promptly submitted to PACS, including proper patient data and image quality standards
Monitor equipment performance and report malfunctions; initiate lockout/tagout procedures when necessary
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment across all department areas
Follow established safety protocols and perform quality control procedures
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
What We're Looking For
Strong technical skills in diagnostic ultrasound imaging
Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail
Knowledge of patient safety standards and imaging protocols
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or eligible candidate to sit for an ARDMS examination. The ARDMS defines 'candidate' as an applicant who has met the prerequisites required to sit for an ARDMS examination.
If eligible candidate, successful completion of SPI, Abdomen, and OB/GYN ARDMS examinations required within 12 months of date of hire. Failure to obtain registry within the designated timeframe will result in termination of the Ultrasound Technologist position.
Must maintain required hours of continued medical education. Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
