Under the supervision of the Director or his/her designee, in an occasional part time status the 911 Center Background Investigator will be assigned to perform a law enforcement level investigation into the background of potential employees.

Essential Functions

1. Interview subjects that have personal knowledge of the candidate to determine their past behaviors and activities in both their professional and private lives.
2. Confirm authenticity of documents provided by candidates as to training and education.
3. Check various public records related to a candidate.
4. Understanding of the Freedom of Information Act in obtaining records.

Ability to document clear and concise reports based on the information learned in an orderly and logical manner.

Employment Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Services, Public Safety. In Service Training completed in Law Enforcement Background investigations.
 
Experience: Prior or Current employment in law enforcement and experience in completing police officer level background investigations.
 
Other Requirements: Must pass criminal, credit and other background checks as required by the County. Personal dependable transportation to use while conducting these investigations.

Demonstrates effective communication skills by engaging, interacting and working with all individuals to ensure clarity and understanding in all interactions.
