Position Summary
The Shipping-Receiving Clerk arranges and prepares orders for shipment. Carries out shipping and receiving functions with parcel and LTL carriers. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Crown may identify other responsibilities of the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisor, and purchasing officer per company policy.
- Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
- Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage.
- Loads and transports materials on shipping dock using a forklift.
- Answers phone calls and interact professionally with customers.
- Directs truck drivers and assists with paperwork.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to accurately count and verify items received.
- Basic understanding of dock, and warehouse procedures.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.
- Motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift.
Performance Expectations
- Operate forklifts strictly in compliance with transportation laws and company safety regulations; maintain required permits.
- Accurately verify quality and count of all received items against supplier documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate shipping/receiving records with zero missing documents in periodic audits.
- Keep shipment databases current so customer orders reflect real-time status and billing documents are delivered to accounting and other departments as required.
- Complete damage claim information promptly and accurately for any in-transit damage.
Physical Requirements
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
Working Conditions
- Industrial facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or government regulations.

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in supporting daily operations within the industrial facility. The position ensures the accurate and efficient flow of materials in and out of the organization by performing receiving, verification, documentation, and shipping tasks that directly impact production schedules, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
