About this role
Dowhas an exciting opportunity for aSenior Research Specialistlocated inMidland, MI. They will be responsible for process research and development in Resins Coatings and Adhesives, primarily supporting the Consumer and Electronics market.
This role:
Addresses problems of technical complexity

Develops Dow Proprietary state-of-art technologies.
In this role, you will require understanding of key business drivers for your discipline and function. You will need to be able to expand conceptual and working knowledge related to your discipline or functional area. You are expected to provide informal guidance to new team members and be able to explain complex information to others.
It is your responsibility to use technical experience, established practices, and personal judgement to analyze and resolve straightforward problems. Your performance impacts the quality of your own work and your team's work and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role
Defines and conducts research on projects using advanced knowledge of scientific principles, theory, and experimental design within a scientific discipline
Develops and implement technical solutions through hands-on experimentation/problem-solving for research problems that are well defined within a project area
Consistently applies the Scientific Method in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problem solving
Formulates hypotheses and develops experimental plans to test hypotheses
Leads scale-up activities transitioning from lab scale through piloting and manufacturing scale to support commercialization of new products and process productivity improvements
Keeps current with developments in relevant area of technology
Serves as a peer coach and provides constructive advice on projects within the team
Proposes projects that align to business strategies and objectives
Modifies communication appropriately to both internal and external audiences
Demonstrates a working knowledge of team alignment with R&D and Business goals
Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's degreeorrelevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 rankingorCanadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant. Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or science related field strongly preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in research and project management
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Skills
Researching: Ability to define, design, and conduct scientific research using advanced principles, experimental design, and disciplined application of the scientific method to solve technically complex problems and generate new knowledge.
Chemistry: Strong foundational and applied understanding of chemical principles relevant to research and development, enabling hypothesis formulation, experimental execution, and interpretation of results within Dow's R&D environment.
Innovation: Capability to propose and develop novel, proprietary technologies and technical solutions by applying creative problem-solving and scientific insight aligned to business and R&D objectives.
Data Analysis: Skill in analyzing, interpreting, and drawing conclusions from experimental data to validate hypotheses, guide decision-making, and ensure technical rigor in research outcomes.
Communication: Ability to clearly explain complex scientific concepts, experimental results, and project alignment to diverse internal and external audiences, while providing guidance and peer coaching within multifunctional teams.
