About you and this role
Dow's Product Safety Research (PSR)group has an exciting opportunity for apostdoctoral candidatewith experience and training in toxicology, cheminformatics or a related emphasis. This role will be located inMidland, MI The postdoctoral candidate will work closely with PSR scientists in developing and/or applying state-of-the-art computational approaches for characterizing toxicity and discerning modes of action. This unique position will present the right candidate with an opportunity to grow and excel in the exciting field of predictive toxicology.
This is an office-based position, and the successful candidate is expected to be actively involved in research projects in evaluating bioactivity of compounds using in silico (computer-based) approaches and to apply a mode-of-action-based approach for safety characterization of chemicals. Activities include database curation, bioactivity model building, evaluation of publicly available models, interpretation of results, and collaboration with other Dow toxicologists. The candidate is expected to present research findings at internal and external workshops/meetings and publish in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. The postdoctoral position at Dow Chemical is for one-year and the contract is renewable up to two years.
Responsibilities
Provides science leadership and toxicology discipline-specific expertise to construct and optimize mechanism-based cheminformatic tools
Works with Dow cheminformatic and toxicology experts along with other Dow team members for application of models to screen for chemical hazards
Leads specific projects and leverages broader expertise to deliver high quality scientific results that are aligned with business and regulatory needs
Develops and implements technical solutions through hands-on problem solving for investigative research
Provides clear, concise communication both internally and externally including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences
Mandatory compliance with work group, facility, and site EH&S policies
