Position Overview
We're seeking a skilled CNC Programmer and Operator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision wood components. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to contribute to efficient production processes.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create accurate CNC programs.
- Set up and operate CNC routers, mills, and related woodworking machinery.
- Apply principles of machining, including tool selection, feed rates, speeds, and material properties specific to wood and composites.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality checks to ensure parts meet tolerances and standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace in compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Assist with milling, sanding, material handling, and delivery
- Operate basic woodworking tools and shop equipment (training provided)
- Read and follow directions and job instructions
- Maintain clean and organized shop spaces
- Support team members on various production tasks
- Follow all shop safety guidelines and procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Operator, preferably in woodworking or a related manufacturing field (2+ years preferred).
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM softwares.
- Strong understanding of machining principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining/CNC technology is a plus.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work in Plainwell, MI.
- Punctual, dependable, and hardworking
- Comfortable working with tools and hands-on tasks
- Attention to detail and pride in doing things the right way
- Willingness to learn and take feedback
Experience not required — but experience in carpentry, fabrication, trades, construction, or similar hands-on work is a plus.
Essential Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Comfortable working in a shop environment around tools, machinery, and dust (with PPE provided)
