Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker (Moldmaker/Tool and Die Maker) to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will build, repair, and maintain high-precision injection molds and tooling components. You will work in a modern facility with advanced equipment, contributing to molds that meet the most demanding tolerances for critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, debug, and repair complex injection molds, including multi-cavity, high-tolerance, and insert/overmold tooling.
- Operate and set up precision machine tools such as CNC mills, lathes and surface grinders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings to fabricate mold components.
- Perform fitting, polishing, and bench work to achieve tight tolerances (often ±0.0005" or better).
- Troubleshoot mold issues, perform maintenance, and implement improvements for better cycle times and part quality.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and molding technicians on new tool builds and process optimization.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to strict quality standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker, Moldmaker, or Tool & Die Maker in a precision manufacturing environment (injection molding experience strongly preferred).
- Proficient in manual and CNC machining, grinding, EDM, and precision measurement tools (CMM, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.).
- Strong ability to read and interpret GD&T on blueprints and CAD files. Cimatron CAD/CAM preferred
- Experience with high-tolerance work (±0.0002" to ±0.001") and hard materials (tool steels, stainless, etc.).
- Familiarity with plastic injection molding processes, hot runners, and conformal cooling is a plus.
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or in a small team in a fast-paced shop.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Journeyman Toolmaker certification or technical degree preferred.
