DUTIES:
- Design complex components and sub-systems for Power Systems and Machines.
- Collaborate with client design team and Finite Element Analysis team for Project Objectives and Goals.
- Perform analysis for structural integrity of engine mounted components – static linear and nonlinear, modal transient dynamic, heat transfer, bolted joint, and welded structures.
- Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions.
- Present to the client the analysis results and conclusions.
- Lead design reviews and resolve technical design conflicts.
- Suggest recommendations based on analysis findings and experience.
- Prepare Finite Element Analysis models.
- Finite Element Analysis – test correlation for engine components - vibration and/or stress.
- Capture inputs from review sessions and document comments for actions with dates to accomplish milestones & priorities.
- Capture report documentation in client archive system as per guidelines.
- Prepare MER (Mounted Engine Resonance) test gage maps documentation – work with MER test engineers to determine proper gage instrumentation based on analysis results.
- Provide suggestions based on suitable options with consultation with senior engineers, platform team and sometimes with the inputs from the manufacturing and field team.
- Manage offshore FEA team – provide projects information and establish the workplan.
- Conduct regular analysis reviews with the offshore team to ensure proper path per requirements and timeline.
- Provide coaching and guidance to the offshore team based on additional knowledge from client meetings and discussions.
- Share feedback with extended offshore team for updates.
- Documents lessons learned for future improvements.
- Support at client’s manufacturing locations to see actual Engine manufacturing, assembly and testing operations for review and capture key operational insights.
- Document findings and feedback for future Finite Element Analysis improvements.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management or related field and 5 years of experience with product engineering. Experience must include:
- 5 years of experience using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
- 5 years of experience in mechanics (like Mechanics of Materials and Elastic Mechanics etc.), based on which simulation results can be explained theoretically.
- 3 years of experience on metal fatigue and the skills to carry out structural fatigue analysis. Especially for welded structures, skills on both fatigue simulation procedure and standard (such as ASME, IIW etc).
- 3 years of experience using ABAQUS / ABAQUS Viewer and/or HyperMesh / HyperView to build and run FEA models for analysis methods including: Static Nonlinear Analysis – Bolted Joint; Static Nonlinear Analysis – Thermal/Pressure; and or Dynamic Analysis – Forced Response Analysis.
