We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Floater/Backup Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This vital role will provide flexible, on-call coverage for staff absences, vacations, or open shifts primarily at Home 1, with the ability to assist at Home 2 when needed. This role ensures continuity of care and resident safety across all shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care and possess relevant experience in home and community care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, non-medical support to residents, including assistance with daily routines, meals, hygiene, and household tasks.
- Quickly adapt to different homes and resident needs when covering shifts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, attendance, and incidents.
- Communicate coverage updates and resident observations to the Residential Lead or Program Director.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, safety, and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year experience in residential care or human services preferred.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and all shifts.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- CPR/First Aid and Recipient Rights certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Work Environment
- Serves two group home locations as needed.
- May require frequent schedule changes or travel between the 2 sites.
- Involves light physical activity such as cleaning, meal prep, and participation in community outings.
- Work hours are based on client care needs and may vary weekly depending on resident schedules and billing eligibility
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $17.13/hour.
- Position is contingent (no guaranteed hours); schedule is based on facility needs.
