Description
We are looking for a skilled Sr. Tax Accountant consultant to oversee and manage the company's tax compliance across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions. This contract position requires a detail-oriented individual who excels in collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tax calculations and adherence to regulations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance while supporting the company's growth in a fast-paced environment. This fully remote role will report directly to the Accounting Manager.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
Manage and oversee the company's sales tax compliance across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
Act as the primary liaison with third-party administrators to ensure accurate sales tax calculations for technology products, software, and services.
Collaborate with sales, billing, and operations teams to address tax-related matters and minimize compliance risks.
Prepare and review corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant regulations.
Conduct sales tax research to support decision-making and maintain compliance with evolving tax laws.
Provide advisory support to internal teams to ensure scalable tax practices align with business growth.
Monitor tax filings and payments to meet deadlines and avoid penalties.
Maintain comprehensive records of all tax filings and related documentation for audit purposes.
Identify opportunities for process improvement in tax preparation and compliance workflows.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
Extensive experience with sales and use tax compliance, preferably in a corporate setting.
Proficiency in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns with strong attention to detail.
Solid understanding of tax preparation processes and related regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with sales tax laws in both U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external administrators.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Proven ability to analyze tax data and provide actionable insights.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
