Laboratory Technician - Plating & Chemical Analysis

Job Summary
A confidential aerospace manufacturing organization in the Metro Detroit area is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support plating operations through chemical analysis and process control. This role is responsible for analyzing plating solutions, acids, and cleaners to ensure compliance with specifications and production requirements.
You will be doing a lot of porosity testing and panel testing (cutting paper, handling salt spray, passing out panels, only some chemical testing, and helping make up tanks and cleaning tanks on the floor).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform chemical analysis on plating baths, acids, and cleaners
Utilize laboratory glassware including pipettes, burettes, and related equipment
Operate analytical instruments such as AA Spectrophotometer and UV/Visible spectrophotometer
Read and follow established analytical methods and procedures
Perform basic acid/base and redox titrations
Make chemical additions to plating tanks as required
Comply with all PPE and safety requirements based on plant location
Support tank maintenance activities as needed

Education & Experience
Associate Degree (AA) in Science preferred, with coursework in General Chemistry
Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel preferred
Strong organizational skills with neat and accurate work habits
Language & Communication Skills
Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from management, customers, and shop personnel
Ability to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings
Mathematical & Technical Skills
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions
Ability to address problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Required use of personal protective equipment in laboratory and shop-floor settings
Regular exposure to chemicals including cyanide solutions and nitric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric acids
Pay Details: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour
