Follow specific formulas, procedures, and specifications throughout the metal melting process to ensure the greatest consistency of specified metal properties for casting production.
All while maintaining a clean, organized work area.
Metal Pouring: Pours molten metal into molds.
Charge Preparation: Calculates, weighs, and charges raw metal ingots and alloy additives into the furnace based on specifications.
Temperature/Chemistry Control: Monitors and adjusts furnace controls to maintain precise, specified temperatures and samples metal for chemical analysis using spectrometers.
Mold Management: Inspects, handles, and ensures the proper preheating of ceramic molds (shell) prior to pouring.
Crucible Maintenance: Inspects and rebuilds crucibles to ensure they are safe for repeated use.
Documentation: Reads shop orders and record heat/melt data to ensure quality standards and traceability.
Safety Orientation: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as heat-resistant gear. Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures.
Physical Strength: Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly, as well as stand, walk, bend, and push heavy carts for long periods.
Experience: Previous experience in a foundry or investment casting environment helpful.
