Detroit Engineered Products, Inc. in Troy, MI is seeking Sensor Systems Engineer to support the design, testing, and deployment of sensor technologies used in electric and combustion engine vehicles.
Job responsibilities and duties include:
- Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits for advanced combustion and battery sensor systems, including early-warning thermal runaway detection in EV applications.
- Help manage day-to-day operations of DEP’s subsidiary that focuses on sensor systems, support communication between teams, support subsidiary operations, and present DEP services at industry events.
- Conduct on-site testing and integration of current and thermal sensors at client facilities domestically and internationally, ensuring seamless system performance under real-world conditions.
- Attend and participate in conferences and trade shows more regularly to stay current with industry trends and represent the company’s sensor technologies.
- Present findings and demonstrate sensor systems to customers, technical teams, and at public events.
- Support durability and performance testing of sensor prototypes to ensure reliability over time and in different environmental conditions.
- Help develop and improve sensors that monitor battery health and safety, including detecting problems like overheating or electrical issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop embedded algorithms that interpret combustion and battery sensor data in real time.
- Assist in writing and presenting technical papers and internal reports showcasing cutting-edge advancements in sensor technology and vehicle safety systems.
- Define durability and environmental stress testing protocols for both ionization and thermal sensors, ensuring compliance with automotive and international safety standards.
- Maintain a close relationship with clients through routine site visits, remote collaboration, and technical troubleshooting.
This position does not supervise any personnel or participate in any management decisions, nor does this position plan, direct or coordinate the activities of any personnel.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in any related position(s) in which the experience was gained.
Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience, and knowledge with the following:
1. C++ programming
2. CAD
3. PCB design tools
