Location: Lake Orion MI
Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire Position
Contract hourly 50hr-55hr OR Salary 100k++ (Depending on experince)

Overview
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with direct Honda experience to support ongoing and newly awarded Honda automation programs.
This role requires strong technical capability in Omron PLC programming and deep familiarity with Honda standards and customer processes.
This is a high-visibility role supporting active production environments with weekend installation schedules and coordination across US and Canadian plants.
Key Responsibilities Develop, program, and debug Omron PLC-based automation systems Work within Honda customer standards and specifications Support system integration, commissioning, and install activities Participate in cross-functional coordination meetings including Japan-based stakeholders
Provide onsite install support primarily weekends Prepare for install during weekday design sessions
Support troubleshooting and post-install optimization
Required Qualifications 5+ years Controls Engineering experience in automotive automation Direct Honda project experience integrator or Honda plant experience preferred
Strong Omron PLC programming experience
Experience with DeviceNet not Ethernet-based architecture Ability to work within strict customer standards and documentation processes Comfortable working cross-time zone with Japanese stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Honda programs in US and/or Canada Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs Automotive integrator background preferred Ability to work flexible schedule including weekend installs Travel Schedule Weekend travel typical Friday Sunday or partial Monday Install work performed primarily on weekends Weekdays focused on prep/design work Travel to US and Canadian Honda facilities
