Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: 11 11th Street, Plainwell, MI 49080
Duties: Responsible for capital projects for the facility including planning, budgeting, scope of work, in-house personnel and contractors, ensuring work is being completed in a safely and efficiently manner. Work on engineering projects related to beef processing, including automation and facility improvements to grow the business, reduce operating cost, and improve operability of the site under compliance with USDA regulations. Utilize knowledge in mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, thermodynamics for troubleshooting and making project decisions. Use AutoCAD for drafting and modeling to prepare detailed project layouts, including the layout of new production lines and process equipment. Identify inefficiencies and design engineering solutions in beef food manufacturing processes to enhance productivity. Utilize understanding of USDA and OSHA regulation to ensure every project aligns with federal and quality standards. Innovate and implement eco-friendly solutions to reduce environmental impact to align with corporate sustainability goals. Utilize specialized data analytics tools to interpret complex production data to identify trends and make business decisions based on numbers, applying engineering solutions to turn those trends into a positive result for the organization. Prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior leadership detailing costs, progress, and proposed enhancements to facilitate decision making and strategic planning.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related plus 1 year of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Project Development Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Guiding technicians in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs of industrial refrigeration and high pressures steam boiler systems. Applying principles of thermodynamics and energy efficiency to optimize and improve system sustainability, assuring compliance with OSHA and Process Safety Management regulations. Planning and coordinating system changes, working closely with contractors, engineers, and mechanics to ensure project execution is according to engineering specifications.
