Job Title: Industrial Engineer
Location: 11 11th Street, Plainwell, MI 49080
Duties: Develops, installs, and maintains cost-effective manufacturing methods and labor standards using predetermined time standard software, applying industrial engineering principles to improve production efficiency. Analyzes variances from established engineering standards, identifies discrepancies, investigates root causes, proposes solutions, and implements corrective actions, using engineering analysis to improve processes. Monitors method changes and applies industrial engineering techniques to reduce production costs while aligning with budgeted goals. Prepares daily labor efficiency reports, tracking engineering performance metrics related to workforce productivity and operational costs. Keeps current with technological trends and applies advanced industrial engineering practices to ensure the company maintains a competitive manufacturing advantage. Upholds working relationship with the local union. Participates in the initiation of new production lines, using engineering design principles to ensure cost-effective and efficient manufacturing processes. Designs and prepares plant layouts, utilizing industrial engineering methodologies to optimize space, equipment, and product flow. Develops engineering processes to achieve production and volume goals by minimizing downtime, reducing material waste, and enhancing overall process flow. Leads process improvement projects, applying industrial engineering tools and techniques to drive cost reductions and quality improvements.
Requirements: Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related plus 1 year of experience as an Operational Manager, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Conducting detailed time and motion studies based on the MTM2 system, driving labor improvement initiatives across harvest, fabrication, packaging, case-ready (vacuum seal and meat grinding), shipping, and rendering operations in a large processing facility. Leading lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects based on PDCA and DMAIC methodologies aimed at reducing waste, lowering production costs, and enhancing production efficiencies by analyzing process bottlenecks and downtime sources in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Collaborating with maintenance and technical teams to identify production necessities and upgrade, troubleshoot, and integrate new equipment across the production facility, performing ROI analyses to assess the cost-effectiveness and potential benefits of these investments.
