The Assistant Director for the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center (VC) at Central Michigan University (CMU) will work with the Director and staff to promote service opportunities for students. This role includes advising the Alternative Breaks (AB) program and overseeing its graduate and undergraduate staff. The Assistant Director will lead training for student leaders, manage the development and engagement of around 700 student participants, support program assessments, and handle marketing efforts. Responsibilities include creating promotional materials, managing social media accounts, distributing newsletters, and overseeing the AB budget and scholarships.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of professional experience working with student organizations or campus programming. Good communication skills, organizational abilities, and motivation are required. A Master’s degree and experience in higher education or with Alternative Breaks programming are preferred.
Duties include advising the AB program and student advisory board, managing data through social media and online platforms, training participants, enforcing university policies related to the program, developing leadership for staff and student leaders, and creating promotional content to increase student participation. The Assistant Director will supervise up to five student staff members and assist in managing the program's fiscal resources, representing the Volunteer Center at events, and planning various programs.
This is a full-time position based in Mount Pleasant, MI, with a salary range of $45,000 to $52,000. The job requires a Monday to Friday work schedule, with some weekends and evenings as necessary.
