Job Description
The Role:
We are looking for a talented, motivated, and capable engineer that will lead in the development of a strategy to effectively execute automated testing for all systems with this Mechatronic Infrastructure landscape and lead a group of System Quality Assurance engineers throughout the journey.
Activities include engaging in meaningful discussions with owners and downstream stakeholders from cross-functional areas, communicating in multiple forums with leadership at various levels within the department and outside the department, and make strategic decisions that will deliver quality, reliability, and repeatability for our automation process to support the KPIs established for our products.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Set/Lead/Enforce the Department Strategy:
Lead inhow test scripts&Helper/Wrappersfunctionsare designed toverifykeyfunctionalbehaviors.
Establishhow requirementsthat areprovided to the Environment teams (SOLE, HIL, Mango, external to EPSI) allow scripts to be executed successfully.
Coordinatehow different test methodologiesand test Frameworksare used by all scripts.
Lead in creatingthe plan to migrateall scripts towards a common test framework (e.g.A5TP orAutoBotor Mango modular test framework or MCGT,etc.)
SuppporthowMech Infrawillmigrateall ITCGscripts towardsBTStest cases.
EstablishKeyTest Behaviorsand drive efficiency in the work product.
Identifykey behaviorsand common test stepsthatcanbe centralized and executed with helper/wrapper functions.
Develop a plan to create helper functions,validatehelper functions, and integrate changes across all scripts.
Create helper/wrapper functions andvalidatethem. Share with department.
Test Execution:
Be able to run a bench, flasha controller,dissectresults, analyze PCAPS, run a test/PTR, run the pipeline....
Identifystructuralchallenges with scripts, helpers, benches,etc... and co-develop solutions toeliminatethem
Innovation :
Develop,Lead, Enforcethe use ofsolutions to increase operational efficiencye.g.analyzing script results (e.g.AI triaging).
Monitor QA testing needs/Objectives from various upstream and downstream stakeholders. Develop a plan to achieve goals.Communicate them to the team. '
Co-establish Sprint/PI Objectives thatthedepartment can follow throughout the year
Manage department-wide report-outs such as script readiness timing, test execution results, simulation environment/tool readiness, VESCOM releases notes, and regular reporting or escalation
Collaboration:
Be the central contact for all upfront and downstream customers.
Interface withother GM Business Sectors to align on test automation capabilities, industry trends, tools, training,etc...
Leadership:
Develop training materials that are relevant forupcomingchallenges.
Create a process forknowledgesharingandprovidingdirection to SQAs on a regular basis so that everyone isoperatingefficiently.
Support triaging efforts by coaching teams while using "Thinking strategies" such asRedXor DFSS.
Champion Ideation/Innovation workshopswithin the team and drive continuous improvement.
Travel asrequiredto support fulfillment ofobjectives.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
Bachelor's degree in Software/Computer/Electrical/Embedded Systems/Electronics Engineering or equivalent field.
10+ years of relevant experience.
Strong experience in developing and executing test scripts using Python, C, Java, C++.
Strong knowledge of Unit test frameworks like JUnit,Unitetc.
Strong knowledge of CICD processpipelinelike GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
Knowledge and familiarity withMechatronic Infrastructure Systems such as Ethernet/CAN/LIN, Diagnostics, Programming, HWIO, Power Management, and Cybersecurity
Knowledge andExperienceexecuting tests on HIL, SOLE, and other automation testing platforms
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and testing methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability toidentifynon-compliancetostandards and resolve the issue.
Able to work independently withhighdegree of initiative.
Ability to communicate atdifferent levelsoftheorganizationeffectively.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
Understanding ofsoftware version control systems (e.g., Git).
Prior software development and release experience.
Knowledge of system engineering and its application in SW validation testing.
Experience and exposure to root cause investigation strategies such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis,RedX, DFSS.
Company Vehicle :
Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate.
Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
