Position Overview
The Machine Setter/Operator is responsible for setting up and operating equipment used in electroplating and related surface finishing processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring all parts meet precise thickness, adhesion, and quality specifications in accordance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up plating equipment according to production specifications, including racks, barrels, tanks, rectifiers, and hoists.
Prepare parts for plating by cleaning, degreasing, masking, or applying pre-treatment solutions.
Mix, test, and monitor chemical baths to maintain correct temperature, pH, and concentration levels.
Operate and adjust controls to regulate voltage, current, immersion time, and solution flow.
Inspect finished products for coating thickness, adhesion, uniformity, and defects.
Record production data, chemical usage, and quality results in logs or digital systems.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues.
Follow environmental, health, and safety regulations for handling hazardous materials.
Coordinate with quality control and production teams to meet output and quality targets.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operation.
Skills & Qualifications
Will train. Electroplating, anodizing, galvanizing, or similar surface-finishing processes.
Familiar with chemical handling, bath composition, and safety procedures (e.g., PPE use, MSDS familiarity).
Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, thickness gauges).
Work Environment
Manufacturing or industrial production facilities.
Exposure to chemicals, fumes, heat, and noise; proper protective equipment is required.
May require standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
Shift work, OT may be necessary to meet production schedules.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity to handle small components and tools.
Visual acuity to inspect fine surface details.
