Position Summary
An opportunity to join our Remarkable Care team as a Phlebotomist at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital awaits you! The Phlebotomist performs blood specimen collection and related laboratory support functions while adhering to departmental procedures and protocols. This role supports Medical Technologists, ensures accurate specimen handling, and provides compassionate, professional service to patients, families, and care team members.
Essential Functions
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established policies and procedures
Verify physician orders and ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation
Collect, process, and transport specimens to appropriate laboratory departments
Assist Medical Technologists with routine clinical laboratory duties
Perform clerical responsibilities including order verification, registration, and documentation
Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, physicians, and laboratory team members
Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
Provide respectful, compassionate care to patients of all ages
Education & Experience
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: One to two years of college coursework; 6 months to one year of experience in a laboratory or phlebotomy setting; technical training in a medical or allied health program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of routine laboratory and phlebotomy procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work effectively with patients and clinical teams
Willingness to complete on-the-job training
Ability to work safely with laboratory chemicals and materials
