Helmer Associates d/b/a Quality Inn in St. Ignace, MI and has opening for 7 full time temporary housekeepers, $15.18/hr to $17.00/hr ($22.77/hr to $25.50/hr O.T.) from 5/16/2026 to 10/31/2026. Duties include: Routine daily cleaning of guestrooms at hotel, including bathrooms, sleeping quarters and public spaces; Stocking of storage areas and work carts.
No exp. req. Must be able to bend, stoop, lift 25 lbs. The specific days and hours of work will vary depending on scheduling and the level of business but will generally be 6 days per week with rotating days off. The business is open 7 days per week. Three shifts, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm; 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm or 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm approximately 35 hours per week with some overtime during busy times. Weekend and holiday work will be required. Must be available to work all shifts. The worksite is located at N561 Boulevard Dr.; St. Ignace, MI.
This posting is being made in connection with an application for H-2B workers.
Workers are paid every two weeks. A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. The employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law but will make no other deductions. In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business. Raises and bonuses available based on performance or length of service with the employer. In addition to the hourly wage, housekeepers may from time to time receive tips directly from guests.
Work tools, supplies and equipment will be provided without charge or deposit.
If required by prevailing law the employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees) incurred by the worker. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
Employer does have optional housing available at a cost to the worker of $85 per week includes wifi, but it is not a condition of employment. If a worker rents housing from the employer, the employee will be asked to agree to have the rent deducted from their paycheck. The employer does not provide transportation to the worksite during the term of employment although it is within walking distance of the housing.
This job order, including its wage, working terms and conditions, is contingent upon prevailing legal interpretations of federal H-2B immigration and FLSA employment law, including Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security regulations. If any such prevailing law is rescinded, superseded, vacated, or substantially modified, then the employer will accordingly revise any affected term.
