Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Field Service Engineer to troubleshoot complex engineering issues, enhance machine performance, and support customers on-site. This role combines mechanical, electrical/controls expertise throughout machine build, commissioning, and field service phases.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Mechanical and Controls Engineers and Shop Coordinators during machine build
Learn the ins/outs of each of the machines the company sells and services
Travel to customer sites to install, commission, and perform runoff of new machines (primarily domestic up to 75%.)
Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls-related issues
Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on company equipment in the field
Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on proper machine operation and troubleshooting
Collaborate with internal engineering teams to provide feedback on machine performance and recommend improvements
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions
Support debug and testing of machines during in-house build and runoff phases as needed
Document service activities, create detailed reports, and maintain accurate records of parts usage and machine history
Adhere strictly to safety protocols at company facilities and customer sites
Stay current with industry advancements and company product updates

Skills and Requirements
Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical training
3+ years of field service or hands-on experience with industrial machinery, machine tools, or automation equipment
Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls systems
Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
Working knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc) and HMI interfaces
Strong customer-facing communication skills, both verbal and written
Valid driver's license and passport (or ability to obtain)
Physical ability to perform hands-on work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in industrial environments
Comfortable with 50% travel including some extended out-of-town stays - Experience with CNC programming and machine debugging - Automotive powertrain or precision manufacturing experience highly desirable
