Description We are looking for a skilled Consumer Lender - Support team member to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will oversee the loan intake process, ensuring applications are processed accurately and efficiently from start to finish. This is a long-term contract position offering an opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization while providing excellent service to our members.
Responsibilities:
Manage the loan application process, ensuring all required documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
Conduct interviews with loan applicants to gather relevant background information and evaluate credit reports.
Assess loan applications to determine creditworthiness, repayment ability, and compliance with lending policies.
Follow established lending authority limits and internal policies to approve, deny, or provide counteroffers for loan applications.
Support Loan Processors by verifying income, collecting necessary documents, and ensuring proper lien perfection activities.
Perform quality reviews of loan files to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal procedures.
Promote credit union products and services tailored to meet members' financial needs.
Monitor the loan origination system to manage application queues, ensuring timely decisions.
Prepare and issue Adverse Action notices to applicants within the required timeframes.
Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced loan officers, processors, and other team members to enhance departmental performance. Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of experience in loan administration, mortgage processing, or related fields.
Strong knowledge of loan origination, mortgage lending, and closing procedures.
Familiarity with credit analysis and ability to evaluate applicants' financial backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to adhere to state and federal regulations and internal lending policies.
Proficiency in managing loan origination systems and maintaining accurate documentation.
Excellent communication skills to build relationships with members, business partners, and vendors.
Ability to mentor and support team members while promoting a collaborative work environment.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
