Pay: $16.00 per hour
Job Summary
Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We're seeking a General Yard/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Chase, MI. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our operations, helping us to assist in the yard using heavy equipment and efficiently moving and processing scrap metal.
What You'll Be Doing
As a General Yard/Heavy Equipment Operator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Operating various heavy equipment (forklift trucks, loaders, etc.) to safely move scrap metal throughout the yard.
- Material Handling: Efficiently moving and organizing scrap metal and potentially other materials to ensure smooth flow of yard operations.
- Scale Operation: Applying knowledge of using scales for accurate material processing.
- Picker - picking product off the belt and sorting them. Will also have to clean under the belt. It's inside work but may be required to work outside at times, so dress for the weather cold inside also.
In addition, you will also be expected to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be a quick learner to adapt to new tasks.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
- Experience with heavy equipment (forklift trucks, loaders, etc.).
- Knowledge of using scales.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work effectively in all weather conditions.
Skills:
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with colleagues and potentially clients.
- Learning Agility: Quick learner to efficiently adapt to new tasks, equipment, and changing priorities.
- Material Knowledge: Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials is preferred but not required.
