This two-year temporary non-tenure track faculty position works a schedule consistent with institutional needs during the Spring and Summer semesters (SU26, SP27, SU27, and SP28). Scheduled typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with evening and weekend hours possible based on instructional scheduling. Work hours may be required at any of the College's campuses, including at main campus in Battle Creek and the Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings.
Position Summary
This faculty position reports to the Director of Allied Health Programs and provides instruction in the Medical Assisting program, supporting program growth and consistent delivery across Kellogg Community College campuses and instructional sites, including main campus in Battle Creek and the Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings. This role is instructional in nature and may assist with program coordination activities as assigned. The Medical Assisting program may utilize hybrid delivery with non-traditional scheduling for on campus lab instruction.
This position is instruction only. It does not include responsibility for serving as the program coordinator, overall program leadership, staff supervision, budget development or fiscal authority, or signatory authority for accreditation submissions. Those functions are performed by program leadership in accordance with college processes.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate degree from an accredited college/university. At the time of application, please attach unofficial transcripts showing completed coursework and degree conferred.
• Credentialed in good standing in medical assisting as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
• Minimum three (3) years of employment in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistant.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide instruction, assessment, and documentation of student learning and competency attainment.
Preferred but not Required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in post-secondary and/or vocational/technical education.
• Experience within an online teaching and/or learning environment.
• Instruction in educational theory and technique.
• Experience teaching in a community college.
• Course/curriculum design and development experience.
• Experience with programmatic accreditation or other quality standard compliance.
• Experience with student assessment, advisement and remediation.
• Experience working with a diverse population.
Proposed Salary
According to the current Kellogg Faculty Association (KFA) contract agreement, commensurate with education and experience. The current salary scales can be found at: https://kellogg.edu/about/departments/hr/employment-opportunities/

Job Duties
Essential Function: Instruction
Description:
• Teach assigned Medical Assisting courses (didactic, lab, and clinical skills as applicable), aligned to program outcomes and competencies.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments consistent with the approved curriculum and course outcomes.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback and remediation as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, competencies, and required documentation.
Essential Function: Student Success and Retention
Description:
• Provide academic support, coaching, and referrals to appropriate college resources to remove barriers to student success.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of referral resources to support students at risk.
• Respond to student questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Plan and participate in student activities and recognition events as requested.
