The City Income Tax Bureau within the Michigan Department of Treasury is seeking an individual to work in public service as an Auditor in its Compliance and Collections unit. Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
Experience
Please Note: A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying 'professional experience' is only considered post bachelor's degree.
Auditor 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Auditor 10
One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9.
Auditor P11
Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.
Alternate Education and Experience
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level.
OR
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level.

Foreign Transcripts. Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by CHEA (https://www.chea.org/search-institutions) . Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.
Signing Bonus. New State of Michigan employees, new to the Auditor classification will receive a one-time signing bonus of $2,500. The bonus will be paid out as a $1,250 gross pay adjustment on the employee's first pay warrant and the remaining $1,250 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of satisfactory service. If the employee leaves within one year of the appointment, they will be required to pay back the entire bonus. Current or previous career employees are not eligible.
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan . If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this positionprior to being appointed to the position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
Remote Work . This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week, however selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work, in-office meetings and in-office training will be required. Remote Work approval is at the discretion of the appointing authority and is subject to change and can be ended at any time for any reason.
E-Verify. The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify (https://www.e-verify.gov/employees/employee-rights-and-responsibilities) and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Interviews. Interviews may occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
Fingerprinting. This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.
