- Recording of routine and bedside EEGs and Long-Term Epilepsy monitoring.
- Records studies of adult patients with a wide range of illnesses.
- Apply electrodes to predetermined measured placements per the International 10-20 System and check the performance of the electrodes.
- Calibrate and adjust equipment to be sure it is in proper working condition.
- To independently record electroencephalographic tests on patients with a variety of illnesses, providing accurate data for interpretation by Electroencephalographer(s)
- Perform special procedures as needed including Ictal-SPECT, PET, WADA, OR language and motor mappings, ambulatory EEG, and to assist in the training of new staff members as appropriate.
- Attend in-service training lectures, workshops, and patient rounds.
Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered (Certified)
- An Associates degree in health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification by American Association of Electromyographic Technicians or eligibility for certification.
- This classification required Primary Source Verification.
Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered
- High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist is necessary.
Upon hire, non-certified EEG Technologists must begin taking courses towards EEG certification and/or identify a path towards their EEG Registered Technologist credential.
- Obtained ABRET certification in CLTM or is working towards this registry
- ABRET certification in EEG
- Has basic seizure recognition knowledge.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ND program is preferred.
- Minimum associates degree or graduate of accredited ENDT program
- Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body
Available Schedule would likely be: Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday 10am - 8:30pm.
Four 10-hour shifts per week, to overlap the weekend by one day.
- Weekend obligation and mandatory holiday rotation.
- Participation in 24-hour on call schedule and overtime as assigned. Mandatory overtime may be possible.
- Training and orientation will occur primarily Monday through Friday during the day shift.
This position may be underfilled with a graduate non-certified candidate. ABRET certification is required within 2 years of date of hire.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
