Role Overview
As an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) and alternate COMSEC Custodian (ACC), you will assist
in efforts for the production, management, and administration of the site’s National Industrial Security
Program (NISP) and COMSEC related activities while ensuring regulatory compliance for the site’s
contractual efforts in accordance with the 32 CFR Part 117, National Industrial Security Program
Operating Manual (NISPOM). The AFSO/ACC will serve as a subject matter expert for NISP regulatory
compliance and collateral security efforts while directly supporting the organizations sensitive production
and development efforts. The AFSO/ACC will work in conjunction with the site’s FSO and primary
COMSEC Custodian (PCC) to provide a secure and compliant workplace for employees, contractors,
visitors, and suppliers. In this role you will collaborate with the FSO, Edison Works Industrial Security
Operations team, and leadership to develop and implement security processes and procedures to meet
business needs across the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
? Participate, develop, and/or assist in organization security initiatives as direct by the FSO and/or
PCC, GE Edison Works Industrial Security Operations team, and Senior Management Official.
? Assist in the management of all aspects of the NISPOM, in accordance with the 32 CFR 117, GE
Aerospace policies, and contractual requirements.
? Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of COMSEC policies and
procedures for the site’s COMSEC account, ensuring compliance with government regulator
requirements, CNSSI 4001, 4003, 4004/1 & 4005, NSA 3-16, and 32 CFR Part 117 (National
Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
? Assist in the management of NISP/COMSEC related taskings for production efforts throughout
deliverable’s lifecycle.
? Provide oversight and enforcement of NISP/COMSEC operations, ensuring proper management,
safeguarding, and accountability of sensitive materials and equipment.
? Participate in risk management efforts related to NISP/COMSEC material security, identifying
potential vulnerabilities and implementing corrective actions.
? Contribute to NISP/COMSEC operations, ensuring adherence to federal security standards,
conducting training, and overseeing operational effectiveness.
? Serve as a point of contact between government representatives, senior leadership, and internal
teams for NISP/COMSEC-related policy and compliance matters.
? Ensure compliance with all required regulations and directives by participating in audits,
assessments, and process evaluations to maintain operational integrity.
? Prepare and participate in DCSA and other government security reviews.
