This is a manufacturing engineering position with a focus on developing production test processes and project-managing the launch of new and retooled test equipment on powertrain manufacturing programs. It should be assumed that the position is based in the Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) office. Depending on project assignments, travel to appropriate equipment OEMs and Ford Powertrain Plants is to be expected

Responsibilities:
Support the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production Test Systems for transmission and electrified powertrain component projects
Deliver standardized test processes and equipment in line with global powertrain strategies
Support all test processes (e.g. Leak Test, In-Process Test, Main Control Oil Calibration, Transmission /etransaxle Final Test, eMotor testing, etc.)
Collaborate with Product Engineering to achieve a working Product design that meets Manufacturing Design Specifications with feasible expectations in the Test Engineering Specification (ES)
Work with Prototype Engineering to determine feasible test solutions and methodology during the early stages of new programs
Work with a multi-functional engineering team from Assembly, Machining, Quality and Plant Operations to ensure proper integration of test processes into powertrain manufacturing systems
Develop production test sequences and monitor product function through a test software interface
Troubleshoot production issues impacting FTT and warranty, determine corrective actions to the part, assembly, and machining processes and/or test equipment
Implement test stand modifications as required for new models and corrective actions
Implement test sequence (software) updates for new models and corrective actions
Conduct equipment acceptance activities for test machines at both the OEM and Mfg. Plant to validate capability, robustness, and safety
Review component/assembly quality indicators and evaluate potential test improvements to address issues, reduce warranty claims and improve customer satisfaction on new programs
Use Lessons Learned to develop program studies and improve standard Bill of Processes
Qualifications:
B S Engineering or equivalent
Strong analytical ability
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Data driven mentality and decision-making process
Application experience in computers and electronics
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to learn product function
Handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic working environment and diverse team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Manufacturing Engineering
Base knowledge of various test processes (Leak Test, In-Process Test, EOL Test, etc.)
Knowledge of transmission and/or electrified powertrain component function
Mechanical and Controls Engineering aptitude
Project management experience
Programming experience in test software such as WMA, LabVIEW and VMC software
Electronic controls systems experience with Siemens PLCs and VFDs
Vibration/NVH analysis a plus

This position is a salary grade 6 - 8 and ranges from $72,480 -162,120.
