The City of Gladwin is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Deputy Clerk. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Clerk's Office and providing excellent service to residents, staff, and elected officials.
Position Summary:
The Deputy Clerk assists the City Clerk in carrying out statutory and administrative responsibilities, including record keeping, elections administration, customer service, and general office support. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and retention of official City records, documents, and files.
- Support all election-related activities, including voter registration, absentee ballots, election reporting, and compliance with state election law.
- Provide front-counter and phone customer service to residents, vendors, and visitors.
- Assist with City Council meeting preparation, including agenda packets, minutes, and public notices.
- Process permits, licenses, and applications as required.
- Maintain departmental databases and perform data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Provide support in administering oaths, notarizing documents, and handling Freedom of Information Act requests (as applicable).
- Serve as Acting Clerk in the absence of the City Clerk.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
