Description
We are hiring a Year-Round Tax Intern in Grand Rapids, Michigan to work on our Tax Team! The student hired will get real-world experience preparing tax returns for Steelcase and its partner organizations. We are looking for a motivated student who is pursuing a public accounting career.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will be supporting and collaborating within a dynamic, global tax team. You will work diligently to help ensure the company complies with relevant tax regulations, minimizes tax liabilities, and maximizes tax benefits. Your energy and critical thinking will help us analyze our tax situations and find new ways to optimize results.
Key tasks in this role include:
*Preparing federal and state income tax returns.
*Performing ASC740 tax accounting activities and supporting quarterly tax provision processes.
*Supporting the income tax audit defense process.
*Researching, documenting, and proposing solutions to ambiguous tax situations.
*Participating in other tax compliance activities.
*Assisting in the digital transformation of the tax function.
This internship begins in the spring or summer of 2026 and will continue to the end of the year, depending on the candidate's availability. You will work 40 hours per week in the summer (full-time) and 15-20 hours per week during the 2026 fall/winter semester (part-time). We are flexible and will work around your school schedule. The role will be primarily in person at our Grand Rapids location.

Required Skills and Competencies:
*Pursuing a BS in Accounting from an accredited university
*Currently a junior, senior, or master's student
*Curious mindset and continuously looking for innovative ideas
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
*Analytical thinker who enjoys connecting and collaborating with people
*Eagerness to learn about corporate tax department operations
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly
*Demonstrates creative problem solving and proactive learning skills
*Previous tax internship experience (Big 4 or National Firm)
