General Position Overview
Work is primarily routine and focused on daily workflow requirements which involve detailed engineering assignments including calculations and relatively standard tests. Guidance is provided either by instruction received on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions; or in the form of independently evaluating, selecting, and applying established and well-defined engineering techniques, policies and systems. Decisions involve limited risk to the organization.
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.
Ensures the timely, accurate and successful translation of product design requirements into manufacturable product designs at the lowest cost
Verifies all validates all product design and design changes with appropriate engineering analysis and testing such as (but not limited to) engineering analysis, FMEA's, WCA, tolerance analysis, moldflow analysis, finite element analysis, thermal analysis, cfd analysis, design experiments, metrology evaluation, benchmarking, prototyping and testing
Ensures manufacturability and optimization of product designs through design reviews, things gone wrong reviews and design for manufacturability reviews.
Validates product designs by developing validation test plans, analyzing prototype builds, and successfully completing design qualification and production validation testing activities.
Documents all responsibilities and / or activities in order to maintain accurate records and project accountability.
Documents, organizes, and manages all engineering analysis, design development, design verification and design validation outputs and deliverables.
Monitors and controls cost and timing objectives.
Ensures that design and development activities and requirements are met relative to design goals, product cost and delivery schedules.
Support Customer Service, manufacturing and technical service inquires, including occasional travel.
Assist in communications with American and Asian suppliers.
Daily communication with both internal and external parties regarding revisions and updates for all forms of product documentation.
Assemble prototypes to be used in testing
Able to perform job consistently and without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
B.S. Mechanical Engineering and 0-4 year's experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Prefer experience in the product design process through internship or co-op experience
Knowledge of engineering tools such as WCA, FMEA, FEA, Tolerance Analysis, DVPNR, Moldflow
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Standard for GD&T
Ability to create and maintain FMEA and DVPNR tools
Understanding of metrology principles
Proven experience with 3D design tools (SolidWorks preferred.)
Able to implement and maintain Documentation Control (SolidWorks PDM experience a plus)
Hands on mechanical aptitude in a shop environment with proven ability to produce / modify prototype parts (3D printer, mill, drill press, bender, grinder, welder)
Proficiency in the basic Microsoft software packages including Word and Excel.
Ability to work within general work objectives regarding projects and team goals/ use full discretion in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied.
Ability to read and analyze procedures
Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, management, and customers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Computer operation
Work cooperatively and professionally with others
Physical Requirements
Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
Must be able to handle and work with small parts.

Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting
Some level of domestic and/or international travel may be required
