Summary:
The Manager, External Affairs & Communications is responsible for leading site-level internal and external communications in support of safe, stable, and effective operations. This role owns workforce communications, external and governmental affairs, employer branding, digital and social channels, community engagement, and advertising efforts while supporting government, ESG, and responsible business communications. This position serves as the primary communications partner for site leadership and plays a critical role in reputation management, change communication, workforce engagement, and issue and crisis response. The Manager ensures communications are accurate, timely, aligned with operational priorities, and consistent with LG Energy Solution Michigan values and standards.
Responsibilities:
Support development and distribution of internal communications for hourly and salaried team members.
Assist in preparation of announcements, updates, FAQs, and leadership communications.
Support communication initiatives related to operations, safety, HR policies, and organizational updates.
Assist with coordination of town halls, site updates, and workforce engagement activities.
Assist with drafting external communications, community updates, and public messaging.
Support preparation of materials for external stakeholders, site visits, and community engagement.
Monitor media and social channels for trends and escalate potential risks as appropriate.
Coordinate with HR, EHS, Legal, and Corporate Communications as needed.
Support employer branding initiatives aligned with recruitment and retention efforts.
Assist with communication materials supporting Talent Acquisition campaigns and hiring initiatives.
Support development of digital and promotional communication materials.
Support maintenance of internal digital channels, digital signage, and social media content.
Assist in development and publication of communication content aligned with operational priorities.
Support coordination of community engagement activities, sponsorships, and outreach initiatives.
Assist with community events, site tours, and local partnerships.
Track communication engagement metrics and assist with reporting.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
7+ years of experience in internal communications, external communications, public affairs, or corporate communications.
2+ years of experience managing or leading teams
Skills:

Ability to translate complex operational topics into clear, effective messages
