The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. We are looking for an inquisitive, highly self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and has good attention to detail and time management skills. This position is responsible for electric drive control analysis, modeling and test for electromechanical actuators and sensors. The ideal candidate will be eager to apply and explore their skills in simulation, implementation, and verification.
Description:
Responsible for motor control system analysis, modeling, and design of electric motor drive systems.
Develops mathematical models and implements control algorithms for various types of electrical machines and advanced power converters.
Knowledge of power converter commutation/switching techniques for advanced semiconductor topologies
Verifies and calibrates motor control characteristics
Validation of motor control characteristics on laboratory dynamometers
Provides technical expertise for projects incorporating complex electromechanical ("Mechatronic") systems
Verifies and calibrates modeling tools and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes
Requirements:
Graduate student pursuing MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Motor Control Systems or Power Electronics or similar specialization
Must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Knowledge of motor control theory, design and analysis
Strong computer skills, and knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink) is required
General competency in all core fields (electronics, electromagnetic)
Excellent problem-solving techniques
Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques
Good organization and documentation abilities
Ability to manage & support multiple activities (time management skills)
Strong work ethic
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
Proficiency with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
