Position: Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Shift: Monday - Friday, possible Saturdays

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Engineering Design and Development:
- Closed-die forging & tooling design
- Quote/requisition/order tooling
- 3D (Solid) Modeling and preparation of detailed drawings using Creo or Solidworks CAD modeling software
- FEA Modeling using Deform (forging simulation) software
- Various other complex engineering analysis
- Product Management
- Estimating & customer purchase order (PO) review
- New production introductions
- Engineering document control & adherence to standardized engineering procedures
- Pre-production/trial certifications
- Lead forging design reviews to ensure clear and robust processes
- Die/Tooling inspection
- Technical support of internal/external customers & vendors
- Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Ongoing commitment to 'safety first'
- Timely & cost effective management of non-conforming parts
- Focus on first time quality in the optimization (identify/analyze/redesign) of non-robust designs & processes
- Conduct quality/production audits to maximize effectiveness of processes & procedures
Essential Functions: Provide decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, and reporting technical data.
Education Requirements: Four year degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Experience Requirements: 5+ years preferred, forging experience preferred but not required
Skill Requirements: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, strong oral and written communication. Software skills: 3-dimensional CAD, Microsoft Office. Experience with toolpath, flow-simulation such as DEFORM, and surfacing software a plus.

Physical Requirements: Sitting for extended periods of time. May have to work 50+ hours each week.

- Medical Insurance Trenton Forging Company pays 80% of medical premiums. Employees are responsible for the remaining 20%. The three health plans we offer are:
- Priority Health HMO – with Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Priority Health PPO – with HSA
- Priority Health Traditional – no HSA
- Note: If an employee opts out of their medical coverage with Trenton Forging Company, the Company will pay the employee $70 weekly – totaling $3640 annually. Dental, Vision and Accident Insurance plans through Guardian are also available at negligible costs to the employee. If the employee selects one of the HSA medical plans above, they are automatically enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA). The Company makes $500 annual contributions for employees who choose single-person medical coverage and $1000 annual contributions for coverage of 2 or more persons.
- Life Insurance Our forging company automatically pays for a $15,000 life insurance policy for each employee. Additional life insurance may be purchased by the employee, up to $150,000 in employee coverage, $50,000 in spousal coverage, and $10,000 coverage per child.
- 401(k) On the first month after 60 days of employment, all employees are eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan with Merrill Lynch. In profitable years, the Company may match employee contributions with discretionary bonuses to all employees currently participating in our 401(k) plan.
- Tuition Reimbursement – After one year of service, employees are eligible to receive tuition reimbursement for work related course work.
