This is for full time, peakload temporary employment. Duties include: The cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring a high-quality dining experience for guests and supporting the success of the Wineguys Restaurant Group culinary team. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong teamwork, a positive attitude, and the ability to perform consistently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform food preparation and ensure ingredients are properly measured, portioned, and stored. Follow all established recipes and presentation standards to ensure consistency and quality. Cook and plate menu items from the Sauté and Grill stations according to order specifications. Assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of large offsite catering events, ensuring timely and high-quality service. Complete all kitchen opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and equipment checks. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas, performing daily cleaning tasks in compliance with food safety standards. Work collaboratively with kitchen and service
staff to promote teamwork and a positive work environment. Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor toward coworkers and guests. Special requirements: High school diploma minimum. Twelve (12) months of previous experience as a line cook or in a similar cooking role preferred. Ability to follow recipes and execute menu items accurately under pressure. Strong communication and extended periods. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work Environment is fast-paced kitchen environment; may involve indoor and outdoor catering events and exposure to heat, cold, and other elements. Conversational English required.
The pay is $18.50 - $20.00 per hour with overtime available at $27.75 - $30.00 per hour. The work schedule is: 35 hours per week from Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position. Daily travel to worksites in the area of intended employment is required. The requested temporary workers will be based at 432 East Lake Street, Petoskey, MI 49770 (Emmet County) and will service clients within the Petoskey, MI MSA and Charlevoix and Emmet counties. Employer will not provide daily transportation to and from all worksites.
Single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Pay period is bi-weekly. Employer will provide housing at a payroll deduction of $700.00 per month. The Employer will make all deductions required by law. Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed by a company check, separate from the payroll check, if the worker completes half of the employment period. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back to home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economically and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Reimbursement in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but not included passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). The employer will provide worker, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period only to the extent that this guarantee is enforced by the Department of Labor. As of the date of this posting, the three-fourths guarantee is not enforced, but this is subject to change.
