Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-focused Staff Accountant to join our team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This is a Contract position offering an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong transactional accounting expertise to contribute to key financial operations. Ideal candidates will excel in general ledger activities, journal entries, and reconciliations, with dealership industry experience being a valuable asset.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries to ensure an accurate and efficient month-end close process.
Conduct detailed reconciliations of general ledger accounts and address discrepancies as they arise.
Support the creation and review of financial statements and reports to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to maintain financial integrity.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for journal entries and reconciliations to support audits and reviews.
Provide auditors with required financial records and respond to inquiries during audit processes.
Identify and implement improvements in accounting procedures to optimize efficiency and strengthen controls.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting issues and support financial operations.
Utilize advanced Excel functions and accounting systems to manage and analyze extensive transactional data.
Apply industry-specific knowledge, particularly in the dealership sector, to resolve unique accounting challenges. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in a high-volume accounting role.
Proficiency in transactional accounting, including general ledger management, journal entries, and adjustments.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.
Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and analytical thinking.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Experience in the dealership industry is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with corporate tax returns and data entry processes.
