Overview
Shipping/Receiving Clerk
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for monitoring incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring the accurate and timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of products and materials. This position involves verifying shipment contents, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating with carriers and internal departments.
Job Responsibilities
1. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other records.
2. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
3. Routes incoming items to correct departments.
4. Packages items in appropriate containers. Affixes labels and shipping instructions onto containers.
5. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
6. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
7. Operates equipment to move, convey, or hoist shipments between shipping/receiving area and storage or work areas.
8. Coordinates with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
9. Ensures timely dispatch of all outgoing shipments.
10. Follows all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Reports any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Requirements

* Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
* Basic math and computer skills.
Educational Requirements
* High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
Experience Requirements
* Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a warehouse environment preferred but not required.
* Familiarity with shipping and receiving procedures and equipment is a plus.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
* Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
* Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
* Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
* Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
* May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
