Expectations of the Role:
To function as a scrub and circulating nurse in a fast-paced outpatient Ophthalmic setting under the supervision of a Charge nurse, Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Director. May include transporting of patients as needed and preparing rooms between cases. Other duties may include special ordering and maintenance of the specific ophthalmic subspecialties.
Demonstrates ability to apply critical thinking skills in daily practice: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Demonstrates ability to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously.
Demonstrates ability to problem solve in a collaborative manner.
Demonstrates ability to navigate computer programs, and demonstrated proficiency with keyboarding skills. Programs include: ORMIS documentation, Sterile processing management, MiChart, DICOM, Storz recording system.
Demonstrated ability to navigate/operate ophthalmic equipment/systems.
Demonstrates ability to handle stress, conflict and resolution in a positive manner
Constant standing, walking and transporting of patients & equipment required.
Patient lifting, positioning, pushing, twisting and/or transferring required.
Is able to communicate and work as a team in a positive manner
Demonstrates compassion/caring with our patients and families.
Highly motivated and organized with a strong desire to learn.
Proven ability to work independently.
On call coverage is an expectation the ophthalmic pt for overnight, weekend and holidays at KEC, Mott or UHOR.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
- External Candidates must have their BSN.
- Minimum two (2) yrs of recent Perioperative RN experience (within last 3 yrs).
- Experience performing scrub and circulating duties as a RN.

- Recent RN Ophthalmology surgical expertise.
- Ambulatory surgery RN experience.
- Perioperative experience in head/neck surgeries.
- CNOR certification

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Shift/Hrs/Days: Days, 10 hour shifts with variable start times, Monday - Friday
On call coverage is an expectation for KEC OR until 10pm Monday through Friday.
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
