Job Mission:
To oversee the early childhood education of all children enrolled in the Head Start, Early Head Start and GSRP programs. Further, Associate Director for Education is responsible for using his/her independent judgment and discretion with regarding to marketing of the programs, monitoring of the problems, dispute resolution of programs, and team supervision.
Performance Standards:
- Provide guidance and oversight of the Education component for grantee and delegate staff. Ensure quality early childhood environments in center based and home based settings.
- Monitor and analyze data for compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards and Great Start Readiness Program Implementation Manual Standards to create school readiness goals and to make programmatic decisions.
- Ensure continuity of services and successful school readiness outcomes for all children, birth to five through implementing the High Scope and Growing Great Kids curriculum to fidelity.
- Oversee CLASS, PQA, COR and ASQ assessments and evaluation processes for grantee and delegates.
- Supervise assigned staff of two or more people. Associate Director for Education shall have hiring, firing, and disciplining responsibilities with the Deputy Director of Early Childhood Services.
- Carry out all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with equivalent coursework in early childhood education.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience teaching young children, -zero-six years old.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience supervising staff, including staff development.
- Requires excellent verbal, written, communication, and social skills.
- Licenses required: Valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Physical Job Descriptions:
Job requirements in 8 hour workday: Sit- 5 hours, Stand- 1 hour, Walk- 1 hour, Bend/Stoop- 1 hour. Movements: Yes- Crawl - if deemed necessary in the classroom; Reach Above, Crouch, Balancing, Squat, Climb- if deemed necessary in the classroom; Shoulder Level, Kneel, Pushing. Weight Carried/ Weight Lifted: 11-25 LBS.
