Under the leadership of the Medical Director of Diversity and Inclusion, the Manager of Diversity and Inclusion for the Henry Ford Medical Group is accountable for the medical group's highly complex diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives and strategies. This pivotal role is responsible for a combination of activities, including diversity and inclusion initiatives, health equity research, quality improvement, educational, and other scholarly activities, strategic planning, people management, program management, wfiscal management, and generating funding in alignment with organizational commitments. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, leading, and reporting on programs that advance health equity and promote diversity and inclusive practices within our organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes for diverse populations. The Manager of Diversity and Inclusion has supervisory responsibilities over office staff and volunteers. This will entail the hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, evaluating, developing performance improvement plans, and terminating personnel. The Manager of Diversity and Inclusion empowers staff to implement creative and innovative programming and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Performs supervisory responsibilities for office staff and volunteers, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, conducting professional development, evaluating, developing performance improvement plans, and terminating personnel.
Acts as a subject matter expert on diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice related to the healthcare workforce and health outcomes.
Partners with human resources and leadership to respond to diversity and inclusionrelated personnel needs, issues, and risks within the medical group.
Uses skills in creative ideation, facilitation, strategic planning, and relationship management to collaboratively work with medical group and institutional leaders, human resources, graduate medical education, Office of System Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice, and other offices, departments, and business units to integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives.
Convenes and leads various committees and stakeholders to co-create the overall vision, strategy alignment, scope, roadmap, business case, and cohesive plan for executing the medical group's diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice priorities.
Develops and executes strategic plans to advance the medical group's diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives.
Uses inclusive stakeholder engagement and research practices to identify institutional diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice needs and develop targeted initiatives, interventions, programs, and policies.
Provides oversight in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice-related events and special programs, including pathway programs, leadership and mentoring programs, workshops, conferences, etc.
Ensures programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Monitors the financial status of office accounts utilizing proper accounting procedures.
Identifies metrics and KPIs, ensure program-level value is realized, lead data collection, and monitor performance for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives, programs, and strategies.
Creates, modifies, and delivers presentations and reports on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice to institutional, educational, and community leadership, partners, and stakeholders.
Designs and conducts diversity, inclusion, health equity research, quality improvement initiatives, educational, scholarly activity, and other scholarship, focusing on reducing and eliminating inequities in employment and healthcare outcomes in critical areas.
Researches, analyzes, and interprets research, educational, and quality data and best practices to inform, promote, and improve inclusive institutional policy and program development.
Publishes research, educational, and quality improvement findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Ensures the office's and medical group's initiatives and programs are culturally sensitive and tailored to meet the needs of diverse populations.
Identifies and secures funding (grants, sponsorships, philanthropy, etc.) to support the medical group's diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice program initiatives.
Monitors trends and developments in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice to inform organizational effectiveness.
Facilitates embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice into a matrix of strategic priorities.
Actively participates in community activities and professional organizations.
Leverages action-oriented behavior to navigate ambiguity and seek clarity as priorities change.
Manages risks and issues and escalates them to senior leadership as appropriate.
Leverages creative, "out-of-the-box" thinking to develop original solutions to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice challenges, overcome roadblocks, and meet or exceed program requirements and expectations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Master's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, Organizational Leadership, Program/Project Management, or a related field. Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH) in Public Health or a related field is preferred.
Five (5) years of experience in public health research, program management, or diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives.
Two (2) years managing and leading people.
Strong experience in strategic planning, securing funding for research and program initiatives, and accurately managing budgets.
Proven track record of developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs using approaches such as community-based participatory research, social justice organizing, and stakeholder-engaged approaches.
Highly proficient in qualitative and quantitative research or evaluation design, analytic methods, data analysis, and interpretation.
Demonstrated leadership and strong people management skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a diverse team.
