Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and holding a current valid license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Minimum 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in long-term care.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing standards of practice, federal and state regulations (CMS, LTC F-Tags).
- Approved CPR certification.
- Previous electronic medical record experience preferred.
Summary
- Supervise and direct nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned shifts to ensure delivery of safe, quality and resident-centered care.
- Assign duties, monitor staff performance, and ensure smooth collaboration within the team.
- Monitor and update staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage in collaboration with Central Staffing
- Receives/records employee call-offs and collaborates with Central Staffing to replace vacancies as needed; mandates staff, when necessary, following mandation protocol.
- Address staff and resident concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Address/resolves employee concerns and provide coaching when necessary.
- Monitor resident care needs and respond promptly to changes in condition; communicate with physicians, families and interdisciplinary team members as appropriate.
- Provide guidance, mentorship and education to staff to promote professional development and ensure compliance. Communicate identified staff learning or training needs to Program Educator.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced/ new employees, ensuring they can provide exceptional resident care.
- Round on each neighborhood to monitor resident conditions, staff performance, infection control and safety compliance.
