Tata Technologies, Inc.: Design Engineer – Detroit, MI
DUTIES:
- Develop new and improved designs for automotive closure seals and related components.
- Plan and design engineering aspects of automotive and manufacturing components.
- Prepare detailed drawings of mechanical equipment using computer-aided design software
- Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
- Provide engineering support within the clients' new product design processes, from inception to development, providing advanced computer aided engineering renditions and models for the proposed components.
- Evaluate feasibility of design ideas.
- Produce CAD solid models of proposed mechanical components, providing engineering analytics of designed components and systems and recommending optimal materials, specifications, and component selections for the production

- Produce documentation detailing the design specifications of components and generate engineering test plans and reports in preparation for migrating the design plans into manufacturing and production environments.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field and 4 years of design engineering experience OR Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field and 2 years of design engineering experience
Other required experience: Experience must include 2 years of experience with:
- Detail Design of products / components
- 2D Drawing creation of Parts, Assemblies and Installations
- Working with Multi sheet drawings and BOM Generation.
- Production queries during build/ conversion/ integration.
- Quick support for minor changes in drawing to create Design Change Note (DCN).
- Enovia VPM and Design release process in Teamcenter (PLM tools).
- Working with CAD tools CATIA V5 and NX, Part Design, Assembly, Surface Design and Drafting modules.
- Part manufacturing / machining

Telework: May be eligible for full or part time telecommuting with authorization from manager and HR
Travel: Up to 5% domestic travel for short and/or long-term client assignments
BASE SALARY RANGE: $109,512 to $115,500 per year. Regional salary adjustments for CA, CO, NY and WA states are base + 20% - 30%.
