The AI for Justice Fellows Program seeks law students interested in working at the intersection of generative AI and legal services that expand access to justice. Fellows will get firsthand experience developing AI-based solutions for the challenges legal aid organizations, innocence organizations, and public defenders face. Fellows will also have opportunities to draft and otherwise contribute to public-facing resources based on the solutions they help develop, such as impact reports and case studies.
This internship will take place in the Summer of 2026; start and end dates are flexible. The intersnip is also available to be remote in the United States.
About the Role
In the role of AI for Justice Fellow (Intern), you will leverage:
Use Case & Workflow Mapping & Creation
Assist in documenting current processes and identifying opportunities for AI integration
In collaboration with our clients and partners, leverage Thomson Reuters AI tools to develop solutions to their challenges
Project Support
Help track project milestones and maintain project documentation
Collect and organize feedback from stakeholders during pilot phases
First Drafts & Content Creation
Training Materials - Draft initial versions of training curricula, guides, and handouts for legal aid attorneys and partners.
Marketing & Awareness - Prepare first drafts of case studies, impact reports, and blog posts showcasing AI for Justice initiatives
Internal Documentation - Draft summaries of meetings, project updates, and lessons learned for internal stakeholders
Event Support - Create briefing sheets and talking points for conferences or webinars
Administrative & Operational Duties
Data Management - Maintain spreadsheets or dashboards tracking program metrics, partner engagement, and project progress
Scheduling & Coordination - Assist in scheduling meetings with internal and external stakeholders, prepare agendas, and distribute pre-read materials
Communication Support - Draft email templates for outreach and follow-up with partners
About You
You are a fit for the role of AI for Justice Fellow (Intern) if you have/are:
Demonstrated interest in public-service law and artificial intelligence
Strong writing and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Thomson Reuters suite of AI tools is preferred and strongly encouraged
Familiarity with legal service organizations and/or public defenders' offices, including the types of services they provide and the challenges they face
