Position Summary:
The Counselor develops an inclusive and equitable mental health support program aligned with Delta’s commitment to student success and whole-person development. Reporting to the Director of Student Support, the Counselor provides individual and group counseling, coordinates campus mental health services, supervises interns, maintains confidential records, and fosters campus-wide awareness and referral systems for student well-being.
This role delivers both remote and in-person services, responds to crises, assists with leaves of absence and accommodations, and supports students facing basic needs insecurity. The Counselor promotes mental wellness through workshops, training, and collaboration across campus departments and with local community providers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Office and Team Contributions:

Direct Student Support:

Provide individual/group counseling to students across diverse backgrounds.

Respond to crises and mental health concerns, including campus traumas.

Develop and maintain systems for tele-mental health and appointment tracking.

Supervise and support mental health interns; expand counseling capacity.

Design and lead student workshops on stress, test anxiety, time management, etc.

Offer career counseling with appropriate assessment tools.

Promote mental health training to faculty/staff.

Maintain confidential mental health records and student tracking tools.

Coordinate mental health and substance use awareness campaigns.

Serve on retention and response committees; document outcomes and referrals.

Support students pursuing accommodations, leaves, or experiencing basic needs issues.
Professional Oversight & Compliance:

Maintain knowledge of best practices, counseling policies, and student development.

Track student sessions, plans, and intervention outcomes.

Utilize CRM systems, career exploration tools, and student satisfaction metrics.

Participate in regular department assessments and service evaluations.

Refer students to internal or external services per policy and licensing standards.
Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work (or equivalent knowledge/skills)

Limited professional mental health license; full licensure within 18 months

1–3 years of related experience

Strong computer proficiency (e.g., Titanium, CRM, video conferencing platforms)

Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and communication skills

Strong documentation, time management, and crisis response capabilities

Demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations
Additional Experiences Considered:

Full professional licensure preferred

3–7 years of relevant experience

Supervisory experience with master’s level counseling interns

Experience in equity-driven service delivery for diverse populations
