Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing company, is looking for a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join their team on the 3rd shift. This direct hire opportunity offers a chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, providing critical maintenance and technical support to ensure the continued operation of automated machinery and equipment.
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process. This includes troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working closely with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues. The role requires expertise in industrial automation, mechanical maintenance, and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Follow safe work practices as outlined by OSHA and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities, replace worn or defective parts, and perform predictive maintenance tasks (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) to prevent equipment failures.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and abnormal operating conditions, analyze diagnostic reports and maintenance records, and collaborate with teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Machine Setup: Set up various machines and work cells based on engineering specifications, work orders, and blueprints.
- Install Parts: Install functional and structural parts in devices to maintain optimal equipment performance.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of repair parts and recommend items to be stocked for routine repairs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance supervisors, engineers, and production staff to ensure smooth operations and optimize equipment performance.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Industrial Automation Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls, robotics, drives, PLCs, vision systems, and sensor applications in an industrial setting.
- Machine Maintenance & Repair: At least 5 years of experience in machine operations, maintenance, and repair.
- PLC & HMI Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot and modify PLCs and HMIs. Programming experience is a plus.
- Pneumatics & Hydraulics: Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Robotics: Experience troubleshooting and programming industrial robots is highly desirable.
- Electrical & Mechanical Knowledge: Ability to read and modify electrical and mechanical prints, and familiarity with electrical codes and standards.
- Technical Certifications: Technical certifications in PLC programming, industrial automation, Siemens systems, or related fields are a plus.
- Journeyman Card: A journeyman card in electrical, machine repair, or a similar field is a plus.
- Hands-On Skills: Proficiency with hand and shop tools, ability to operate machinery (e.g., lathe, mill, surface grinder).
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a plant environment with exposure to various elements.
- Requires standing for long periods and moving about the facility.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Requires use of safety glasses and hearing protection while performing specific tasks or in certain areas of the plant.
