The Specialized Packaging Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, fabrication, testing, validation and delivery of all supplierresponsible specialty racks and containers. This role works closely with suppliers; manufacturing, product engineering and Tier 1 partners to coordinate and guide the development of durable, efficient packaging solutions that meet Stellantis requirements.
Key responsibilities include interpreting and clarifying packaging specifications, ensuring all designs adhere to Material Logistics Management (MLM) standards, and verifying that suppliers deliver packaging that achieves optimal part density without compromising quality. The manager will also participate in global team reviews focused on design optimization and density improvements.
This position requires strong collaboration with the purchasing organization and suppliers to align sourcing strategies, ensure packaging requirements are incorporated into sourcing activities, and confirm associated costs are accurately captured and managed.
Track packaging design and development deliverables including multi-functional team engagement and approval throughout the process (Product Engineering, Safety, Quality, Supplier, Workplace Integration Team, and Vehicle Process Engineering).
Lead cost reductions initiatives including density optimization and packaging right sizing to support reduced packaging and Supply Chain transportation costs.
Foster teamwork and proactive problem-solving in a positive work environment.
Lead initiatives to implement new technologies or methods to enhance Packaging team productivity.
Design Standards/Lessons Learned/Bulletins need to be followed to strive for 100% accuracy in design and development of racks and containers.
Follow guidelines in the MLM Supplier Packaging Specifications on the requirements to meet Stellantis Packaging expectations.
Collaborate with other departments to align goals and priorities including plant environmental sustainment.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in material handling rack fabrication, rack design, or material handling program management
Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues as well as manage through all aspects of the daily business, including escalation and communication as required
Ability to implement, sustain, and improve new or existing specialized packaging build processes
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Minimum five years of experience in an operational environment focused on supply chain or material handling
Familiarity with rack design supply base
Plant Material Handling or Material Flow Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Packaging or a related field
