HVAC Design Engineering Program Manager. (Farmington Hills, MI). Liaison between Development Departments and all “upstream” & “downstream” customers for scheduling, communication, deliverables and events in relation to HVAC program development on all existing and HVAC New Model programs. Work closely with other functions on “upstream” activities for the successful transfer of information and schedule development from initial concept through SOP. Report to the Design Engineering Director, lead the coordination of all associated BOMs within the program scope and track necessary deliverables to ensure the program milestones are achieved. Drives cross-functional team to ensure all HVAC program deliverables are completed on-time and at target level. Hold team members accountable and escalates high risk issues for quick resolution. Confer with senior leadership team, engineering, production, or sales team to discuss project specifications or procedures. Manage and control program financial budgets for: Bill of Material (BOM), Tooling, Investments and Engineering Design & Testing (ED&T). Act as key contact for customers for HVAC program to consult or negotiate to prepare project specifications also to provide deliverable information. Present and explain proposals, reports, or findings to customers. Track and report HVAC program deliverable status to senior leadership team. Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, or market demand. Offer technical or operative solutions to ensure the level of quality and cost efficiency in HVAC program. Provide close support to the internal Key account managers for customer technical and commercial issues. Closely coordinate with manufacturing’s New Product Launch (NPL) team to ensure all manufacturing milestones and build dates are met. Generate detailed timing plans to manage and monitor project tasks. Retrieve and report monthly KPI items for the program/department. Lead and enable cross-functional team members to resolve project open issues in a timely matter and generate recovery plans as needed, escalating to senior leadership as appropriate. Drive and support continuous improvement for program management and product development processes. Ensure the project team follows Highly-Marelli development processes and document all required deliverables. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field + 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer or any related position in automotive HVAC engineering. Must have five years of experience in HVAC body structures and interior systems, torque validation testing, and rear suspension, front suspension, host clamps and clips analysis.
