The Apprentice Lineman assists in the construction, maintenance,
and repair of the City of Wakefield’s electric distribution system.
This is a training position that works under the supervision of experienced lineworkers to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a Journeyman Lineman. Duties include physical labor, use of tools and equipment, installation and maintenance of overhead and underground electric power lines, and adherence to strict safety procedures.
This position requires flexibility in skill sets, job assignments, and applied time. This position is appointed by the City Manager and reports to the Utility Leadman.
A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL-B) with air brake endorsement, with a good driving record, is required.
Both internal and external applicants will be subjected to a written examination as part of the selection criteria.
Pay Scale: $26.90/hr
