What are we looking for?
The Export Control Manager will support the Transportation Technologies Intertek Business Line, ensuring the company meets regulatory, corporate and divisional export and import compliance requirements while achieving business goals. The Export Control Manager will also serve as the primary Empowered Official to engage with various US Agencies in registration and licensing of all export related activities in furtherance of company business opportunities.
Shift/Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm

What you'll do:
Provides guidance, direction and oversight to assure adherence to US Export Control Regulations and all obligations for the company to follow therein.
Disseminates information and develops procedures to facilitate compliance with all US Export Control Regulations including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) as listed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Providing consistent interpretation of the ITAR and EAR and any changes to company employees
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on export control and other trade-compliance matters, ensuring export requirements are met via export license, exemption or exception under various US Government agencies.
Prepares export license applications, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Manufacturing License Agreements (MLA) and other requests for approval to the U.S. Department of State and or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Implement, maintain and update the Company's Export Compliance Manual, Policy, Export Compliance Processes (ECP) and Export Compliance Operating Procedures (OP)
Proactively engage with Business Units to understand export impacts to business needs, assessing sales opportunities via pre-quotation Risk Assessment Form (RAF) Review to ensure compliance with export regulations. Assist VP Compliance in review of export related business projects and provide timely sales feedback.
Develop & clearly communicate export regulatory guidance, policy & operational controls to Business Units and Site Operational Teams as required regarding visitor management, marking of technology and secure technical data transmission methods, reporting and other administrative requirements to ensure compliance with export regulations.
Develop and conduct export compliance training modules, and provide updates as related to changes from various associated regulatory agencies, including Defense Directorate of Trade Controls (DDTC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Conduct internal export compliance audits and reviews, reporting on any potential areas of concern, recommend corrective actions, advise on any Voluntary Self-Disclosures (VSD).
Assist in review of export compliance requirements with Intertek corporate legal. Recommend export language related to Customer or Supplier Long Term Agreements (LTA) or other contracts
Develop and monitor platform and policies to safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) via company secure platform (stand-alone application) to secure Technology & Technical Data
Assist with import/export of hardware per US Export Regulations under the Foreign Trade Regulations and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Commercial (INCO) Terms
Develop database to enable traceability and auditability of export compliance program and support the classifications as assigned under various regulatory requirements.
Respond to export classification inquiries from customers, vendors, government agencies, customs brokers, and others to support all US Intertek Business Units.
Support the monitoring, maintenance, and retention of records and documentation for export shipments in accordance with local regulations and Intertek policies.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
BS/BA in Business or related degree and 2-4 years of direct work experience in global trade compliance, OR strong technical background plus 8 + years of direct work experience in the area of export control regulations and global trade compliance.
Minimum 2 years of experience with import and export regulations in a capacity of trade compliance, international or global trade management, customs broker, or similar operational experience.
Must have good organizational skills, as well as, good verbal and written communication skills.
Requires keen attention to detail, with the ability to independently research, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, and policies relative to scope of work including but not limited to U.S. Export Controls, with focus on ITAR and EAR.
Product Export Classification experience for Goods and Technology under the ITAR/EAR is necessary
Direct experience in development of and delivery of training on export compliance topics
High degree of computer proficiency and familiar with ERP and other business office systems, including MS Office Suite, One Drive and SharePoint.
Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, interpret and follow complicated written and verbal instructions, interpret regulations, and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing at a professional level.
